We’re old school.
We live in an age of 15-second TikTok clips, Tweets, sound bites, and ephemeral self-expression through our SnapChat & Instagram Stories. If someone told me tomorrow that the world’s best-selling newspaper had only headlines, and no stories, I’d shrug it off as a sign of the times.
But as a dinosaur in this world, I hold my anterior mandible up high to proudly announce The World Tomorrow’s new 10 Voices interview series, about Asian Entertainment on the World Stage.
The idea of 10 Voices is to develop a complete narrative of a complex ecosystem by speaking with leaders who occupy vastly different places within that world.
With no 280-character Tweet limits to stress about, we give thought-leaders the time and space to express themselves through a deep-dive interview format.

Asian entertainment is going places.
As I’m writing this, #1 on the US Billboard 200 album charts is Map of the Soul by Korean boy-band BTS. Last month, Bong-Joon Ho’s Parasite won Best Picture at the Oscars. While last year Crazy Rich Asians took in $239M at the box office.
Where a decade ago, Asia was exporting mostly gadgets, textiles, and automobiles - today Bollywood films, Korean pop, Chinese period dramas, and Japanese anime are projecting Asia outwards to the world. It’s the kind of soft power that the US and UK held a duopoly over in the 20th century. The kind of power that changes how people think.
We’ve been interviewing the diverse voices who make Asian entertainment what it is. From the men and women who sit in Board Rooms pulling the strings of the industry, to a NYT best-selling author, to film directors, to the on-screen stars fans love.
We also delve into crucial, but less-obvious parts of the industry: hearing from film financiers, from distributors who bring entertainment to the eyes and ears of fans, and from senior government policy-makers who set the stage for the whole industry.
Through the comments section, we’ll also do our best to answer any questions you might have for these leaders.
Is Asian entertainment a cresting wave, or are we just seeing the beginnings of something bigger?
The first interview of the 10 Voices series will be published in the coming days, available exclusively, and free, through The World Tomorrow newsletter.
Hope you’ll enjoy this and learn something new. We sure did.
